Efter at klimatopmødet i København er afsluttet med, hvad man vel bedst kan betegne som en dundrende fiasko, er det nu op til den enkelte at gøre sit til at hindre den fortsatte globale opvarmning.
Jeg har rettet min opmærksomhed mod det norske produkt Linie Akvavit, som jeg selv og andre har nydt mangen en gang ved julefrokoster gennem de sidste mange år. Problemet med deres snaps er blot, at en 200 år gammel tradition tilsiger, at hver enkelt flaske skal transporteres fra Norge og så med skib syd om Australien, hvor den undervejs altså krydser ækvator to gange. Umiddelbart har jeg svært ved at komme i tanke om produkter med tilsvarende meningsløst omfang af CO2-udledning.

I live in Denmark and have several times, especially around christmas, enjoyed your excellent Linie Akvavit.
But in these times where the climate is so high on the global agenda – especially in Copenhagen these days with COP15 going on – I wondered if your company have thought about changing the production of the akvavit. Since there can be no doubt that the transport of the beverage around the world emits large quantities of CO2.
Maybe the same effect could be obtained in a different way. What about having the akvavit stored in the sherry casks in Norway in same lenght of time as the journey would normally take. You could also stur the casks regularly to simulate sea travel.
Another suggestion could be to just pass the equator one time and then head straight back to Norway. That would make a massive cut in the emission of CO2 even though my other suggestion would have a greater impact on the emissions of CO2.
I hope you will get back to me on your thoughts about how your company can play an important part in the global reductions in CO2 emissions.
